Paragliding
The “Full Paragliding Experience” is the most sought-after service offered. In this experience, you share a parachute with a professional pilot. The adventure starts by driving up Mount Haleakala to reach the Haleakala Watershed Preserve, which is 4,500 above sea level and offers awe-inspiring views of Maui.
Hiking
Haleakala National Park is one of Hawaii’s most visited natural wonders. Translated as “House of the Sun,” this immense crater towers at 10,000 feet and is famous for its extraordinary sunrises and sunsets. The sunrise experience is so popular that the National Park Service requires reservations. However, visitors can also take advantage of numerous hiking trails. The park is also home to unique species of plants, such as the Silversword, and endangered species, like Hawaii’s state bird, the Ahinahina or Nene.
Another nice spot in Kula is Sun Yat-Sen Park. At an elevation of 2,400 feet, this historic park offers priceless views of Kihei, Wailea, Makena, Puu Olai, and the windmills of the West Maui Mountains. The park also features several bronze statues of Sun Yat-Sen, considered a father of modern China, as well as stone dragons and a stone arch.
The Waiakoa Loop Trail is an ideal option for those seeking a moderately challenging hike in Kula. The trail spans 3.5 miles and receives relatively low foot traffic, making it all the more challenging. Located in Kula, it ascends over 6,000 feet above sea level.
